"ohhh, i'm gonna look so good in dem glasses, don't get any scratches on em Lance"
I havn't been following much yet this year, I hope someone else wins.
the le tour web sight seems to kick ass this year
I too remember way back
I worked as a 911 dispatcher and a prison guard @ lcc in Lincoln. One day, things
kinda snapped, and I was like fuck this. I moved into the Johnboy house with a bunch of
older bikers on C street. Scott, Jeff, and Jen took me in, and changed my life for the better.
They convinced me to sell my truck, and start biking.
They took me to Deluxe bikes.
There I was greated by the crew, Greg, Pat, Sean, Spuck, Paul.
and right by Gregs bench was this mo-hawk wearing punker that was kinda quiet.
Johnny Mohawk, a mentor and a friend for life...
Greg sold me on my first bike, Bridgestone mb5. He had me ride everything in the store, specialized, Isentrout ( i know bad spelling ) but the bridgestone, I loved it.
I'd come into Deluxe all the time for little lessons on how to fix bikes, or to just to hang out a bit.
Greg once sent me out with a new Isentrout with a new rock shock, " go out and run into stuff with this all day, then come back" I was very stoked to be out on a bike that was worth
more than all my worldly posessions combined, and honored to be trusted that much.
They sold me my first road bike frame The Austro Diamler, and said I could have the parts off an old small bianchi if I took it all apart and re-built it in the store. I had no idea what a pedal wrench was, but Greg and the crew there took me under their respective wings and made me just smart enough to be dangerous with a wrench.
Those guys were all really cool. what the hell am I saying, Those guys ARE all really cool.
When Deluxe closed, I was bummed, as was everyone who shopped there. A few years ago when Bike Pedalers was given new life with Brian and Greg it was sweet. I think everyone who knew what was up with Dunbar was really happy that he was getting back in the game.
We had conspired through the blog to do some events, the D street scavenger hunt that ended with a kegger at Pedalers with Brian and Greg. I wish I would have stayed around long enough to enjoy a chicken and Crit wth thoese guys, it was in the works.
It's hard being away from you guys when news like this hits.
Today I woke up and read the news from Mo-hawks sight, re-turning the screw.
I've spent all morning trying to find out if it's true, and to my dissapointment Dan Moore let me know.
Greg, was a mentor, and a friend.
I havn't seen him in years, and knowing i'm not going to get to see him ever again really hurts.
He was a good guy, and he'll be missed. my heart goes out to his family and friends
Goodbye buddy, safe travels.
Fourth of July Ride

Yesterday the trails at Wagon Train were a bit soft to ride, so the crew hit some gravel for a bit. We came across this train on Princeton road with all kinds of military Humvees. Not something you see everyday around here.New? Used? Decommissioned? The train was going South. Wonder where they're headin'. Are we going to invade Mexico? CVO, you're lucky you moved back to the States.
Wagon Train ride tomorrow
Weekend ride plans
So who's got Friday off? Anyone up for a little gravel? I'll be heading out on Friday for a healthy dose of Vitamin G (the Rapha boys should have Trademarked that term). 8 AM from D Street. All are welcome.Saturday Jim Craig and company are planning on riding laps at Wagon Train at 8 AM. Each lap is 10 miles. Would make an epic day to ride out, ride 4 or 5 laps, eat lunch in Hickman, and ride back. Anyone?
Another option for the Fourth is riding out to the Fourth of July capital of the world! I know Jim Fobben is riding out to Seward on Saturday. Anyone else?Last time I rode out there was a few years ago and we hit a pancake feed for breakfast. Pancakes, eggs, sausage and beer?
We won't have CVO to guide us around Seward this year or have CVO's folks make us food, but I'm sure it'll still be a blast. Departure time will need to be very early in order to get out there by 7 AM to see the anvils explode.

Sunday Bacon ride is on!
Good luck to all Nebraskans heading to Breckenridge this weekend for the Firecracker 50/Marathong National Championship. Also good luck to Coach and Jay at the Breck Epic. I'm looking forward to hearing about everyone's experience in Breckenridge. Have fun, be safe, and tear it up!
